How Does The Thyroid Affect Speech?

How does hyperthyroidism effect your speech. I am tired everyone thinking i am on medication. I have been aware of my graves due to a car accident. my eyes have also been affected by the graves it extremely hard to sleep in the nigh. i have tried to sleep in every different posotioj i should also let you kowi have # neck operations. i wake up tired due to waking up so many times noise It is very hard to go back sleep . My Dad (other family members don;t understand how hard and tired on me). this just makes me feel like failure. How do i explain this ti to thems

Hello,

Hyperthyroidism does not affect speech directly. However, multiple medications can lead to acid reflux and laryngitis.

I suggest you consult an ENT specialist for clinical assessment of the throat.

In case there is evidence of laryngitis, medication like PPI and steam inhalation will help to resolve laryngitis.

In addition, I suggest you consult an ophthalmologist and treating physician to relieve the prominence of eyes due to Graves disease so that you can sleep well.
