How Effective Are Birth Control Pills 2 Weeks After Starting It?

I was wondering what my chances of pregnancy are? My boyfriend and I were having sex and the condom broke, but neither of knew it until after he ejaculated inside of me. I am on birth control, but I only just started it about two weeks ago. At the time of the sex I had taken twelve pills and right after sex I took my thirteenth because it was the time of day I usually do. I have been taking my pill (ortho tri cyclen lo) regularly since then. I wasn t sure if the birth control had kicked in yet or not and I wasn t sure if it had stopped ovulation yet (because it did happen during the time of the month I d be most fertile if I was ovulating) so I went to walgreens and picked up plan b one step and took it with in and hour and half of having sex. I realize that birth control and plan b one step is a lot of hormones, but I just wondering what the likelihood that I am pregnant is? Thank you!

Hi,

You are not at risk of having pregnancy, as most of the contraceptive pills become effective against pregnancy, within one week of start, if not immediately. Out of Plan B tablet or oral contraceptive pill, each can work for birth control even when used independently. One may use plan B tablet if you have missed 2 or more contraceptive pills.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
