How Effective Is Metoprolol In Relieving Symptoms Of Opiate Withdrawal?
Wondering how effective metoprolol is for relieving symptoms of opiate withdrawal, specifically suboxone. I take soma 250mg TID and ativan 1mg PRN, mostly at night so I can sleep. I do not, however, have access to clonidine which has worked well for me in the past. I have metoprolol and am wondering if this beta blocker might be an appropriate or effective substitute to an alpha 2 agonist like clonidine. Or is it just the sedative effect that makes this effective during w/d? Thanks.

How Effective Is Metoprolol In Relieving Symptoms Of Opiate Withdrawal?
Hi, Metoprolol is not useful in opiate withdrawal symptoms treatment. It just acts on beta receptors and reduces the heart rate. Clonidine or Lofexidine more effective to reduce the dose of Methadone also. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
