How Effective Is Stem Cell Therapy In Treating Multiple Sclerosis?
My granddaughter has MS, I just read of stem cell therapy where they first deactivate the Immune system, inject stem cells, and reactivate the immune system.JAMA released info very cautiously about results of a first clinical trial that was much more prudent that newspaper headlines lead one to believe.. What is your opinion of this stem cell approach as my granddaughter was very upset when she read of halting her immune system? Thank you,
Stem cells are likely going to form part of treatment of conditions affecting the immune system because of the potential to change the immune response.
At the moment she is likely on immune suppressants to treat her MS. These are also working to halt or reduce her immune system
I hope this helps
