How Effective Is Tramadol For Urinary Tract Infection?
Hi I have a urinary tract infection. I am drinking lots of water, but I'm in massive amounts of pain and discomfort and I'm at work. I have a bunch of tramadol that has be prescribed to me for a current f tooth infection. Do you think the tramadol would also help relieve the pain and discomfort of my urinary tract infection? Or is there something else I could buy over the counter (I'm in New Zealand) that would be better? Thank you.
If your urinary tract infection is a confirmed one, drinking lot of water and pain killers are not adequate to cure this condition.
Examination of urine will confirm the UTI. Presence of more than 5 pus cells is indicative of UTI and a culture and sensitivity test will help to find the type of organism and the appropriate antibiotics for the treatment. Adequate dose and duration will clear the infection. At the same time any precipitating factors like urinary stones, growth and other problem in the urinary tract have to be ruled out with investigations. Otherwise the problem and the pain would likely to relapse. Consult your Physician he/she will guide you better. Get Well soon. Dr S.Murugan
