My mother is about 73 years, height 5ft 4in and weight 75kg. A routine visit to the opthalmologist yielded two responses from the doctor. One - cataract exists in both eyes and ready for removal. But since the eyesight with corrective lenses are very good there is no hurry. Pressure in both eyes are ok now but pressure is building up and there could be spikes which could result in nerve damage later on. How effective is YAG laser treatment on both the eyes to relieve the pressure that is being built due to the development of cataract? Thanks
It seems from the history that your mother is having increased intraocular pressure. Yag laser is effective in prophylactic treatment of angle closure glaucoma. However it requires evlauation to find out the type of glaucoma and cause for raise in intraocular pressure and treatment accordingly.
Thank you
