costochondritis can recur in same patient.
It is more likely too recur in patients with calcium and
vitamin D3 deficiency.
Usually in healthy individuals, costochondritis don't recur. But if you are having calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency then it can recur twice or thrice in a year.
So in my opinion, you should first get done calcium and vitamin D3 levels and if deficiency then you will need supplements.
Also follow these steps for better symptomatic relief and for prevention of recurrence.
1. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise.
2. Avoid movements causing pain.
3. Avoid bad postures in sleep.
