How Harmful Is Smoking While Taking Ambroxol To Cure Bronchitis?
Hello..I m 43 year old female....I ve been having bronchitis for 45 days...quit smoking...and now better. But with 4 cigarettes a day......my question is how worse does smoking while taking expectorant (ambroxyl hcl ) affect the bronchitis?...thanks a lot
Smoking needs to be stopped completely while having bronchitis and on medications such as Ambroxol. Smoking would worsen the condition of bronchitis by irritation of bronchial mucosa and producing more cough and phlegm.
This would also make the medications such as Ambroxol less effective. Kindly quit smoking completely and take medications as advised to get relieved from the condition early as well as more effectively.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
