How Harmful Is The Double Dose Of BP Medication In Elderly?

I accidentally gave my 85 year old mother a double dose of high blood pressure medicine. She is only supposed to take it in the morning but I mistakenly gave it to her again instead of her cholesterol medicine. She s also taking aspirin, and Tylenol 3 (just had knee replacement 4 days ago). Should I take her to the emergency room?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The main possible complication would be low blood pressure. This may or may not occur.

If it does occur it can be associated with dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain, clammy sensation.
Some or all of these may be experienced.

She may not to be see if she is able to lie down and rest but if the symptoms is severe or the blood pressure very low then she would need to be seen

I hope this helps
