How High Is Amniotic Fluid Index (AFI) Of 24.2 At 24 Weeks Of Pregnancy?
At 24 weeks pregnant my afi was 24.2 I m schedule to go back on the 28th (by this date I will be 26weeks pregnant) for an echocardiogram of the baby s heart . We already did all testing to rule out abnormalities in the baby, there is no down syndrome or any other chromosomal abnormality. How high is 24.2 at 24 weeks pregnant? My doctor didn t really explain much
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. AFI of 24.2 at 24 weeks of pregnancy makes a diagnosis of Polyhydramnios, which can be due to: 1. Congenital heart disease 2. Chromosomal anomalies 3. Congenital anomalies in fetus like tracheo esophageal fistula 4. Diabetes mellitus 5. Idiopathic, in which no cause is found. If chromosomal anomalies ae ruled out, then other anomalies should also be ruled out and further management should be done. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
