Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My friend has hsv1 I tested negative for it so I know I don t have it. The other day she was beginning to have an outbreak. she let me used her glass pipe to smoke out of which she used earlier that morning. Before I smoked out of it I I wiped it of with a wet paper towel and soap. Can I get herpes like this still?
Hello! I have been through your question. Related your concern you should know that HSV-1 is mainly transmitted by oral-to-oral contact to cause oral herpes infection, via contact with the HSV-1 virus in sores, saliva, and surfaces in or around the mouth. But HSV-1 can be transmitted from oral or skin surfaces that appear normal and when there are no symptoms present. However, the greatest risk of transmission is when there are active sores. So, in your case I think there is no risk of HSV 1 because you have wiped and soap and so you have no contact with saliva or HSV1 from sores. I hope my answer helps you. Regards.
