How Is Parkinson S Disease Different From Essential Tremors?
I was dx with Parkinsons one year ago by my neurologist. prior to this I was dx by another neurologist with essential tremor. How can I be sure it is parkinsons and not essential tremor. The only test I have had done is an MRI which was negative. The rest of the dx was based on visual exam. Please advise.
Hello, Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your health concern
Both Parkinson's and essential tremors can be diagnosed with physical examination alone. Parkinson's causes generalized slowing, hair abnormalities, resting and pill rolling tremors, mask facies, small handwriting and several other associated symptoms. Essential tremor presents solely as hand tremors occurring while initiating any activities.
