General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern. Prinzide or Zestoretic contains a diuretic called 'hydrochlorothiazide' along with lisinopril. Lisinopril is an 'angiotensin-converting enzyme' (ACE) inhibitor, which works by relaxing blood vessels and aid in decreasing the blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a 'water pill' (diuretic) that induces to pass more urine, which helps the body get rid of extra salt and water.

Such combinations are used when the blood pressure does not come to control or keeps fluctuating with one medication like ACE inhibitor alone. Kindly take the medication as prescribed and do the necessary follow-up.

Hope the information provided would be helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
