Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What is the difference between the thrombophob ointment (red color tube) and the thrombophob gel (blue green color tube)? Also, everytime I apply the med in the ointment form, my arm skin becomes red (like rashes) and I have slight burning sensation. Is this normal? I dont face this problem when I apply the medicine in the gel form.
Difference between gel and ointment is that gel acts fast and for shorter duration, ointments act slowly but for longer duration. Regarding redness on ointment application and no problem with gel , it could be due to different ingredients in them. Redness is due to allergic reactions to the chemicals in ointment.
I would advise you to use gel than ointment to avoid such discomfort.
