Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My father has had an emergency surgery for a deodenal perforated ulcer in africa a week ago in a rural hospital and he is 70 what the best medicine I can buy for him I live in the united kingdom. Please help I love my father so much I would be lost without him. What food can we buy for him
There is no "best" medicine which will give him instant relief. I`m pretty sure the doctors have given him correct medicines which are PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) like Omeprasole or Pantoprasole. Most effective seems to be Esomeprasole. He needs to take one for at least few months. H.Pylori infection needs to be verified and cancer ruled out (they should take samples from the stomach for histopathology). He should avoid fatty foods, spicy foods, coffee, chocolate, orange juice, painkillers. Gastroscopy should be done for about 3 months.
Hope this will help. Regards.
