How Is A Petit Mal Seizure Different From A Grand Mal Seizure?

Both my fiance & I are properly diagnosed epileptics and I have a few questions about when those told that they are prone to Generalized Seizures and just a more specific form of seizures like my mother, who was also a properly diagnosed epileptic who only suffered from Grand-Mal seizures. 1. Can you experience 2 different types of seizures at the same time? (For Example: Only a combination an Absence & either a Myoclonic or a Clonic.) 2. Is actually such thing as a Petite-Mal seizure? - What are the diagnosed differences of a Petite & a Grand Mal seizures? 3. How do you tell the difference between a Myoclonic & a Clonic seizure? 4. Can an Absence seizure appear/present to as a random unprovoked sleeping spell. (For Example: Not due to as a side effect of any medication, lack of sleep, or sleep disorder.) 5. What type of seizures present as follows: - Only Random Staring Spells? (For Example: You appear as if to mentally check out, are seriously daydreaming, lost in deep thought but never appear to lose consciousness, & properly proven not to be due to mental illness or a side effect of any medications.) 6. What can cause Spontaneous Verbal Outbursts during Absence seizures? (For Example: While unconscious due to the seizure they appear to be having a Somnliloquy spell even though they do not suffer from that sleep disorder.)

Hi,

Seizures have different types and a though not common but people can have one type transformed into others.

Sudden stare and getting lost sometimes is typical of absence seizures.

The outburst of words do occur with seizures and is a part of seizures.

Petit mal and generalized seizures are used for the same type of seizures which involve the whole body jerking but the latter especially if jerkiness start from one part and spread to the whole body.

Myoclonic is if patients only get stiff muscles ( not jerking ).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
