I was diagnosed 4 years ago with Atopic Dermatitis, using creams and ointments (clobetasol and similar). I ve been told the next level of care is a biopsy that requires my condition to be inflamed to process. These creams have the side effect of thinning the skin, thereby extended use is worse than the dermatitis.Google research has offered no more than frustration and when tried worse results.Has there been more research on this as a cure or are there other options available for Atopic Dermatitis?Thank you YYYY@YYYY
Hi. As per your case history of atopic dermatitis my advice is- 1. It is a chronic disease with flares in winter season. 2. It can be controlled by avoiding allergens like dust, avoiding new soap and other cosmetics, using a glycerine soap for bath. 3. Emolient application is the most important thing to do for atopic dermatitis. Apply white paraffin plus liquid paraffin cream like enmoist 3 to 4 times a day. 4. Continue topical steroid like clobetasol or other steroid sparing cream like tacrolimus/calcipotriol for more dry and rough skin parts. 5. Other treatment options include oral antibiotics, oral short course steroids only taken after consulting a dermatologist.
