Suggest Treatment For Atopic Dermatitis

Hello Doctor, My baby is 7 months old. though otherwise healthy, he seems prone to allergies. recently he had an outbreak all over his body. My pediatrician says he has got atopic dermatitis. How to deal with the issue. One more point, he is formula fed. How not having enough mother s milk can affect him. And how to make up for the deficiency. Please advice. Regards, J

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Atopic dermatitis refers to itchy inflammation of the skin. Antihistamines and corticosteroids are the usual mode of treatment. Rarely calcineurin inhibitors may be required. Complete blood counts should be done to rule out any abnormalities. Topical antiseptics may also be required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
