General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Follicular study is done to keep a track to know how ovum is maturing and when it would be released. It so generally started by 8th or 9th day and continued till the ovum is grown to enough size it would rupture.
Intercourse is advised to be timed from about 2 days before the follicle is about to rupture and to continue for about 3 days after it would have happened.
This would improve the chances of fertilization and implantation would occur, provided the other factors are favourable.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
