Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In 1966 I was diagnosed with subaortic stenosis after they put a camera on a tube up my arm to my heart, in 2011 after just an exam all hooked up on a trendmill and then they listening to my heart said I didn t have what I was told in 1966 but I had mitral valve prolapse, I know a lot has change in all those years, my question is what is the difference between the two? Thanks, Peter
Both are diseases affecting the heart valve. Subaortic stenosis is a condition causing narrowing of one of the four valves of your heart. MVP is also called floppy valve where the heart pumping is affected. Consult a cardiologist and get an echo done, if the pumping action is adequate, we can manage it conservatively.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
