How Is Subaortic Stenosis Different From MVP?

In 1966 I was diagnosed with subaortic stenosis after they put a camera on a tube up my arm to my heart, in 2011 after just an exam all hooked up on a trendmill and then they listening to my heart said I didn t have what I was told in 1966 but I had mitral valve prolapse, I know a lot has change in all those years, my question is what is the difference between the two? Thanks, Peter

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Both are diseases affecting the heart valve.
Subaortic stenosis is a condition causing narrowing of one of the four valves of your heart.
MVP is also called floppy valve where the heart pumping is affected.
Consult a cardiologist and get an echo done, if the pumping action is adequate, we can manage it conservatively.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
