How Long After Abortion Does Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Levels Become Normal?

Hello! I had a dnc on May the 30th at 6-7 weeks pregnant. How long should it take for me hcg levels to return to zero? I had sex 6 days after the dnc and I m also wondering what my odds are for pregnancy. Pregnancy tests are positive, as they should be for remaining hgc in blood from previous pregnancy. I m just a little worried

Hello,
Serum beta-hCG titres remain positive for 3-4 weeks after an abortion. The titres gradually fall and positive levels can sometimes be seen until 6 weeks. This fall depends on the initial hCG titres also. Abstinence is usually advised for 1-2 weeks after any minor procedure on the pelvic region. After an abortion, contraception is advised for at least 2 months and hence sexual intercourse should be protected meanwhile. Return of ovulation does not happen sooner than two weeks after an abortion in the usual situation and hence, you need not worry about another pregnancy. Hope this helps.
