How Long After Shingles Vaccination Can Steroids Be Taken?
What is the window of time for me to take steroids after receiving the shingles vaccine? I have been off Endocort for 3 months now and plan to get the vaccine. However, if I have a flareup and need steroids after the vaccine is administered I could get shingles. She didn t mention the timeline of this possibility, and I forgot to ask. I had the shingles in 2014. Can I get it again? Is it wise to get the vaccine?
The injection of shinglesvaccine depends on the dosage of prednisone you will receive. A dose of fewer than 20 mg per day is considered as low dosages and can be continued when you do zostavax. Higher dosage can be risky for zostavax injection.
Prednisone needs 12-24 hours to go out of the body so in one day after stopping therapy you are ready to do vaccine.
Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
