hi dear Doctor my 7 years old daughter had ingested a coil last 6 days back. we rushed to emergency in nearest children s hospital and they got her x-ray right away. Coin was in middle of oesophagus. My kid was feeling normal. No pain, no chocking, no vomiting, nothing at all. Emergency people advised that we wait overnight and get another x-ray next morning to see if it has passed through the oesophagus. We did and gladly found that it was in stomach. now 6 days later, we had another x-ray, and the coin is still in stomach. Child is completely okay though. No vomit, no abdominal pain, no loss of appetite, etc.how many more days we can safely wait that it travels down on its own to the duodenum and to later parts of GI tract ? we have found on internet that coins are inert and don t cause a reaction/infection unless there is some obstruction due to coin. Is surgical removal only safe choice if coin remains seated in stomach as-it-is ? much thanks salman Lahore. Pakistan
