How Long Am I Protected After Taking Rabies Vaccination And ERIG Shot?
good day, i already have a complete anti rabies vaccination + ERIG shot last aug 2009. 3 days ago, my cat accidentally scratched my forehead. I went to the doctor to get a booster shot which is 1/4 PCEC. i will have another 1/4 tom. Do I still need another ERIG shot? how long am I protected when I had the complete vaccination last 2009?
Hello Let me explain about the booster doses and about the rabies vaccine in animal handlers ( because of domestic cat scratched you ). Previously immunized patients exposed to rabies should receive two booster doses of rabies vaccine at days 0 & 3 without the need for E R I G. As you mentioned that you received two booster doses so NO need for another E R I G. Further I want to tell you that animal handlers , should check their titer EVERY 6 months but those works in endemic area. Since you are not living in an endemic areas so routine titer check is not necessary, so no need on any ERIG. Hope you will find this information good for you.
