Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have piriformis syndrome and have been taking aceclofenac for more than two weeks, it not going away but it helps me go through this painful condition waiting for it to heal. How long can I keep taking this medicine? I m 60 years old, perfeclty healthy otherwise, and weight 60 kg.
Usually, Aceclofenac drug can be used for long periods as long as no side effect has been showing up. I also suggest to alternate with other NSAIDs like Naproxen, Ketorolac, et cetera.
However, alternating hot and cold compresses locally (on buttocks) can help relieve the pain. Applying analgesic cream/gel locally can be helpful. Certain stretching exercises for piriformis muscle can also help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Albana Sejdini
