How Long Can I Take Emeset To Control Vomiting During Pregnancy?
Hi, I am 7 weeks pregnant now. after my sixth week my morning sickness and vomitting have increased so much ( that i vommit every hours) leaving me dehydrated. Now when i have started taking emeset i am relieved? Is that absolutely safe? how long can i continue this medicine. thanks in advance.
Hi, Thanks for the query. Some amount of nausea and vomitings are common in pregnancy. In case of excessive vomitings you can take the help of antiemetics with your doctor's advice. Emeset contains ondansetron. It belongs to category category B drugs in pregnancy. Means animal studies didn't show any adverse effects on fetus but sufficient human studies are lacking. So, you can use the tablets as advised by your doctor. You can continue till the symptoms subside. Usually after first trimester nausea, vomitings etc symptoms will decrease and you may not need antiemetics. Take care.
