How Long Can Methadone Fenton And Morphine Be Taken?
My dad has had pancreatic cancer for at least four years here recently in the last 90 days he has been on liquid morphine 100 mg every two hours he also has 150 mg Fenton all to patches and he takes 110 mg methadone he still has his which he does sleep a lot my question is how long can he stay on this type of a treatment and could he have been misdiagnosed
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
All these drugs are centrally acting (acts on brain) painkillers. All these causes sedation. So excessive sleep is likely when someone is taking these drugs. But for cancer pain relief, these drugs are necessary. You can try taper down any of the drug. If his pain relief is maintained then no need to restart that drug.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
