Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is having an asthema issue has just been given prednisone orally. He is three the first dose is the 10 ml how long can it take for it to take effect? He has 6 days of it. We gave him the first dose today around 3:45pm he is coughing still tonight not sure what else I should give him
Simply cough does not indicate asthma and so you should not give him any more medication since this medicine is a steroid. He may develop dependence. In long run may be he will not respond to the medication and will develop side effect of the drug. Duration of drug should be less to stop dependancy. Frequent change is not required.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash, Ophthalmologist
