i have kidney stones 5 in totaly 2 dislodged and blocked off the kindey from draining i was addmitted to hospital and had a stent inserted around teh stones nothing removed i had no pain after this at all and a week ago the pain started back again followed by diarrhea and high blood pressure also my tummy is really tender it has been 6 weeks since the stent was inserted. My question is how long can a stent be in place safly and should i go to the hospital and have them check it out
The urinary stent is usually placed for around a period of 2-3 weeks duration depending upon the underlying concern of the urinary tract.
However, if there is an infection, bleeding, pain or other issues the due consideration should be taken to remove the stent early or replacement of the stent with a newer one.
