I have had a left ear infection on and off since November. Saw ENT doctor. Cultures show fungal and bacterial infection at first. (November) Treated with antibiotic and fungal drops. Reappeared in Dec. Same treatment. Reappeared a month later. Same treatment. Reappeared in mid Feb. No infection found from culture. Still being told to take antibacterial (Ofloxacin) and antifungal (Clotrimazole) drops. Ear pain gone; mild itchiness in ear. This is getting old. What caused it and how long before it goes away?
It is likely that the infection is not being treated completely or the micro organism causing the infection is resistant to the antibiotics. Could you please tell me all the culture reports and whether any resistance testing of the microbes was done or not, if yes, what was the report. I would also like to know if you are having decreased hearing and sinus problems. Please let me know he answers to these questions so that i am in a better position to help you! Thanks
