Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a plan to go several days without eating solid foods; to only consume water, juices, V8's, etc. Once in a while i.e. after 4 or 5, days or after 7 or 10 days, I might ingest some raw peanuts, or canned sardine. Will such a course of action open up any health risk ? This is to lose weight.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Liquid diet is not harmful to your body & can be continued for as long as possible with normal diet in between. However liquid diet will not keep your appetite go for a longer duration & within 2-3 hours you would feel hungry. In this way you would consume more calories. Also taking too much of packaged juices, peanuts, canned food is not recommended. I would suggest you taking diet full of raw vegetables & fruits one or two days a week. They are rich in nutrients & will keep your appetite away for longer period. Eat raw vegetables like cucumber, carrot, cabbage, raddish, etc. fruits like papaya, orange, apple, pear, pineapple etc could also be taken. Avoid too much of grapes & banana due to their high calories. Fresh juice can also be taken. In this way you would be able to loose some weight by eating healthy solid foods
Hope this information helps
