How Long Can I Use Elimite Cream For Scabies?

I was diagnosed with scabies yesterday. I have had the rash from the scabies for 6 days. I used elimite cream for 10 hours yesterday and showered as directed. I then put tea tree oil on overnight, which is the only thing that seemed to help the itch. My question is, should I do another dose of the elimite cream at the end of the week? I washed everything in hot water and cleaned my entire apartment, including furniture. I just want to ensure that this goes away. I am miserable!

Hello,

Since you have been diagnosed with scabies and have applied Elimite cream, scabies should reduce. If not, you can reapply Elimite cream after 15 days and take a shower as instructed. Application of Ascabiol lotion( Lindane + Cetrimide) is also effective. You have to apply the lotion on the affected area, leave it for 40-50 minutes and take a shower. Repeat after 15 days.

Do not touch or scratch. Take care of your hygiene, do not share your toiletries. To reduce itching you can apply a thin layer of hydrocortisone ointment or calamine lotion / Soframycin lotion. You can take non sedating antihistamines, once SOS to ease discomfort.
