A friend of mine recently had emergency brain surgery due to hemorrhaging. Neurologist have him sedated heavily but he can still respond with small arm movements and hand gestures, although he is unable to move the left side of his body. He had surgery on the right side of his brain so I know that can happen but what are the chances that the paralysis will be perminent. Also what are the chances that he will have any loss of brain fucntion and what kind?
hi, Surgery in hemorhagic brain stroke is done when it is massive bleed and for life saving. once he come out from icu, sedation,it will take minimum 6months for recovery. recovery also depends on extent of lesion and involvement of important region effected and comorbid conditions he may require long time physiotherapy and control of hypertension regards DrSandhya Manorenj Neurologist Hyderabad
