Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my son has been committed to the psych ward because he took mushrooms MDMA and cocaine over a 3-4 day period and then went and scene the show getting out of commton and seems to not be able to get that out of his head. how long will it take him to come down off these drugs to his normal state
How long a drug stays in our body depends on its half life. It takes 4-5 half lives for a drug to be completely eliminated. MDMA has a half life of 12-36 hours while cocaine has a much shorter half life of 1.5 hours.
But the clinical effect will disappear much before complete drug elimination. Clinical effect is unlikely to be there beyond 24 hours, although the blues may take up to 48 hours to clear.
If symptoms stays beyond 48 hours, kindly review with your doctor.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
