How Long Do Postinor 2 Effects Last In The Body?
Hi how long do postinor 2 last the effects on body after taking it? As sperms can live up to 7 days (correct me if I m wrong). I took Postinor 2 first pill after a few hours of an unprotected sex, according to the instructions 12 hours later I took the second pill again ( it was 5 mins earlier), based on my situation, isit possible not* to have pregnancy? Pls advise, Thankyou.

Half-life of postinor 2 is around 36 to 40 hours, so its effect may remain for 4 to 5 days after taking it. Sperm can live in the female genital tract for 5 days. Postinor 2 is highly effective in preventing the pregnancy. If you took it within 24 hours after sex then failure rate is only 3% to 5%. But, pregnancy also depends on the time of menstrual cycle. If you had sexual intercourse in the safe period of the cycle then chances of pregnancy is nil. As you took the pill within few hours and second pill after 12 hours (5 minutes earlier does not affect the efficacy). Sometimes, period may be delayed by pill for 7 to 8 days. So, if the period delay is more than 14 days then go for a pregnancy test and blood HCG to rule out the pregnancy. If pregnancy is confirmed then you have to terminate by abortion pill under the advice of a gynecologist.
