Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
If someone has not been taking Sudafed for a couple weeks, would they still have symptoms of a reaction to the medicine? They are also on Singulair. Having tremors, occasional confusion, depression and feelings of not wanting to live. They were having some of these symptoms while on Sudafed and told they were allergic and to stop, but are still having symptoms.
The drug Sudafed contains Pseudophedrine used as a decongestant medicine in variety of sinus problems and others. The side effect profile are many including allergy, sedation, drowsiness and hang over feeling.
The duration of side effects depends upon the amount of dose, duration of intake and receptor response of the body. If consumed for a short period of time with low doses, usually it is 3-4 working days within which all effects should wear off.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
