How Long Do Symptoms Of Xanax Withdrawal Last?

I had been taking .25 mg of Xanax at night to help me sleep. Sometimes I would use .75. I have now stopped using it and have had a problem with insomnia and anxiety at night. I am pretty sure it is a withdrawal (although I did not realize it at the time). Will this subside with time and how long does it usually take?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms you mentioned are Xanax withdrawal. Depending on your dose and how often you are using Xanax, your withdrawal experience can be anywhere from uncomfortable to really really unpleasant.

It can also be medically serious. If you have been taking Xanax several times a day, then quitting is going to take time, patience, and determination. I suggest you to stay in contact with your doctor. He will prescribe you the right doses until you stop using Xanax to avoid Xanax withdrawal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
