How Long Do Withdrawal Symptoms Last?

I don t know if you can help me or not. I ve been on Seroquel for anxiety/depression since early 2002, and a few years ago, I started getting these little alert letters about the dangers of Seroquel. For the last year or so, my shrink s been trying to take me off it and give me something else. The first med didn t agree me at all. So, now I m on something else. I ve been having difficulty sleeping and/or not staying asleep for any length of time (I m used to getting about seven hours of sleep, but this last week, I ve been averaging maybe tops at four - sometimes less). I m also experiencing excrutiating redness/itching/burning - you get the picture. I ve been told by my doc that I might be experiencing a withdrawal. I ve been on this new medication since about Wednesday (it s not early hours of Saturday), and I want to know if there is a ballpark figure for how long these symptoms will last. Any help

Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

Seroquel contains quetiapine and it is a antipsychotic drugs. At low dose, it works like antidepressant. If you want to taper it off, you can do it gradually. You did not mention the dose of seroquel, you have been taking. In that case, you should taper it down by 25 mg or 50 mg per week. That way, you would not get withdrawal. In case, you need further help, you can ask.

Thanks
