How Long Does Amoxicillin Take To Cure Cough And Chest Congestion?

Hello I went to the hospital Monday I have a upper respiratory infection with coughing and congestion in my chest and ear infection. They gave me amoxicillin and benzonatate. My question is how long does it take to get my system so I can start feeling better

Well, Amoxicillin is helpful in treating bacterial infection and the time that it takes can depend on the severity of infection. However it can start showing effect in around 2-3 days and csn take as long a week to ten days. Along with antibiotics you also need to take supportive treatment like a combination of cough suppressant and expectorant like Mucinex and also doing warm saline gargles twice a day can relieve. Do steam inhalations with a few drops of eucalyptus oil in water. Do warm compresses over the chest. Sip plenty of warm fluids. Ginger tea and lemon and honey in warm water can also help.
