Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Long Does Clindamycin Take To Be Completely Out Of The System?
I have had an allergic reaction to clindamycin manifested by blotchy redness on arms and palms with intense itching. I am treating it with Zyrtec with good results. How long should I wait to take the doxycycline that has been prescribed in place of the clindamycin?

Not very long at all, less than 24 hours. What will take a lot longer is the recovery of your intestinal flora to normality. You can try and speed this up by taking probiotics. Taking a course of clindamyicn is not a pleasant experience. If you get severe diarrhoea you should stop taking the clindamycin and go back to a your doctor. It should give you this information on the patient information leaflet in the box.
