Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I started taking co amoxiclav a day ago for stromt unrine infection. It is helping but giving side effects like tummy cramps. Nausea. Sickness feelings. Headaches.and chest pains. I was wondering how long this will go on flr because my course is up to 10 days.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain Co-amoxiclav is an antibiotic and stomach discomfort and digestive problems including tummy cramps is a side effect of it.. The other symptoms of headache ad chest pain is also due to it... As you have a number of symptoms I would suggest you to consult your treating physician and get evaluated so that he can either reduce the dose of the antibiotic or change the antibiotic to relieve the symptoms.. As of now you can take proton pump inhibitor like Pantoprazole every morning empty stomach and once before meals at night to relieve the symptoms.. You can also take Ondensarton or Domperidoe to relieve nausea.. You can take more of probiotics like Yoghurt in diet.. Drink plenty of water and take light meals.. As the antibiotic intake will be withdrawn gradually the symptoms will start resolving..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
