How Long Does Fentanyl Stay In The Body?

I jhave been on the Fentanyl patch, 12.5 mcg q 72 hours for almost a month. I do not know that my pain has decreased but it does seem like my ability to feel positive emotions has waned. I wonder if this could be related and how soon Fentanyl leaves the system once use is discontinued.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Usually, the withdrawal symptoms will last till the end of a week of taking the last dosage.

As fentanyl is altering the impact of dopamine and other neurotransmitters that are responsible for the pleasure feeling. Thus, this is experienced as waned ability to feel positive emotions as in your case.

Please follow up with your caring doctor, as you've been using for a long time and might require more specialized help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
