How Long Does Lansoprazole 30mg Take To Treat Sliding Hiatus Hernia Problems?
I am a 46 year female who has recently been diagnosed with a sliding hiatus hernia I m generally a very healthy person (non smoker/drinker) and follow a healthy diet. I ve been prescribed Lansoprazole 30mg taken once day. How long does it take to work as I haven t seen any relief after 4 days..
Dear patient, I suppose that you are suffering from heartburn or reflux in order to be treated as such. the result of hiatal hernia will be increased passage of acid from the stomach into the esophagus. in such a case the treatment will be medical in the beginning: lansoprazol is a PPI that inhibits the production of acid from your stomach. it does not work on the hernia itself , but on the symptoms. usually within one week you must feel better, if not increasing the lamsoprazol for twice daily, taking ranitidine three times daily, might be helpful. in case of failure of medical treatment and severe symptoms, a surgical prodedure might be warranted in such a case to prevent the complications of chronic reflux and to relieve your symptoms.
best regards
