Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Levonelle pill is morning after pill (
emergency contraceptive pill). It contains 'Levonorgestrel', which is a hormonal preparation.
it needs to be taken within 72 hours of
unprotected intercourse to prevent unwanted or accidental
pregnancy. The pill would prevent pregnancy by causing
breakthrough bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of its intake.
It is rapidly and completely absorbed after oral administration (bioavailability about 100%). It is about 97 to 99% protein-bound.
Levonorgestrel is conjugated to form sulfate conjugates and, to a lesser extent, glucuronide conjugates in plasma. About 45% of levonorgestrel and its metabolites are excreted in the urine and about 32% are excreted in feces, mostly as glucuronide conjugates. Its half-life is about 42 +/- 16 hours, which is dependent on body weight, body fat and length of treatment.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
