Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Livalo is composed of 'Pitavastatin', which is a member of the blood
cholesterol lowering medication class of statins. It is indicated for use in hypercholesterolaemia (elevated cholesterol) and for the prevention of
cardiovascular disease. Pitavastatin is a moderately lipophilic compound, has good oral absorption, high bio-availability and a long half-life compared with other statins. The plasma elimination half-life ranges from 5.7 hours (single dose) to 8.9 hours (steady state). Common side effects of Livalo include:
muscle pain, back pain, joint pain, pain in arms and legs, diarrhea,
constipation, skin rash, and headache. Intake of
vitamin E capsules could help to overcome symptoms of cramps and spasms. Kindly consult your doctor before intake of such medications.
Hope the information provided helps. All the best.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran. S
