How Long Does Lorazepam Take To Be Completely Out Of The System?

Hi Dr. Rynne, about 2 years ago my family physician put me on 1 mg of Lorizapam, I am going to do a slow detox. I have reduced the mg s to .5. the only side effect that i have had is a slight dizziness. Can you please advise me on how long you think it should take to have this drug out of my system. I am 56 years old and that is the only prescription that I take. The reason for the prescription, of course , was anxiety due to some family issues. I feel it s time to reduce and eliminate this drug out of my system.

Hi,

You need to add SSRI or anxiolytics like Escitalopram after consulting your psychiatrist and then slowly tapper off the sleep med you are taking.

Else the anxiety as you mentioned can get worst. Also a psychologist review can help.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
