Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 31 weeks pregnant I have smoked marijuana on a daily basis but I have quit since the day after fathers day. I was wondering if it will be out of my baby s system before I have the baby and is there any way of taking detox to clean ur system out within a couple of hours and it be safe.
Welcome to HCM. I applaud you for stopping smoking while pregnant and marijuana at that. Please note that the drug will clear at different rates based on the metabolic rates of you and your baby, no one can tell you a definite timeline, but as a general rule 30 days is what many researchers have honed in on. Now this also depends on the frequency and the potency of the drug smoked. This drug will be detected 10 days after smoking in most persons, therefore I suspect that it will be lingering in your system during childbirth. There are not really any antidotes to rid of the drug off your system. What is important moving forward is that you have stopped smoking and this will be beneficial to you and your baby. I hope this helps.
