Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Abruptly taken off Norco twice this year, location: Southern Oregon; seeing another pain specialist in a week yet pain is intolerable. Last prescribed April 2015, wanted to refill in August; use PRN. Options: no aspirin related OTC; prescribed Robaxin--not much help; torn rotator cuff, scoliosis, sciatic. How long does Norco stay in system? Please offer options.
It may stay for about one week in the body system. The elimination of a drug from the body system depends upon its half-life which is actually the amount of time the drug takes for half of the dose of its to be eliminated from the body. It would take about five or six half-lives of a drug to be totally eliminated from the system.
By working on the above the half life of Norco is about four hours so it would take about 4 to 5 days to be totally eliminated from your body system. However, it is important to note that everyone metabolizes medications differently, so the half-life will vary from person to person.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
