Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
MY FRIEND IS ON PERCOCET AND RECENTLY WAS TOLD THAT IT DID NOT SHOW UP ON HER DRUG TEST. SHE TAKES HER MEDICATION AS PRESCRIBED AND EVEN GOES IN FOR THE PILL COUNT BUT IT WILL NOT SHOW UP IN HER URINE. SHE EVEN ASKED FOR A BLOOD TEST TO PROVE SHE HAS TAKEN IT. WHY WOULD IT NOT SHOW UP?
Increase in the time between last dose and sample collection, failure to take the medication or taking only as needed, rapid metabolism, drug-drug interaction, and potential lab errors are the main reasons.
Other factors for a negative result include the integrity of the specimen submitted, analytical testing factors within the lab including false negatives, and steps within sample processing.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards Dr.Saranya Ramadoss, General and Family Physician
