How Long Does Propranolol Stay In The Blood Stream?
I have be prescribed 10 mg of propranolol 4xdaily. My heart rate is only about the low to mid fifties. I would like to cut the propranolol down to three a day. My question is, ... how long does the propranolol stay in the blood stream. I take the 10 mg now every six hours all through the day. I would like to take the three pills every eight hours. Can I do that without ill effects?
Propranolol belongs to a group of a drug called “beta blockers”. It typically brings down heart rate, it is a transient response and will revert to normal rhythm once you stop the pill.
It will remain in the body for three to four days.
If you experience extremely low heart rate, better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
